Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I place an order?
You can place an order by emailing us at info@miam.net.au or you can go to our Contact Us page and fill in your details. If you like, you can attach pictures of cake designs that you like and we can work out a design and quote from there.

2. How far in advance will I need to place an order with Miam?
As the cakes and sweet treats are all made from scratch, we do require at least 3 weeks notice for any order. However, for wedding cakes, it would be ideal to give at least 2-3 months notice. So book in your orders early to avoid any disappointment!

3. Does Miam have a shop I can visit?
At the moment, we do not have a shop front and work from a licensed kitchen. However, the dream is to own a shop one day and we will definitely keep everyone posted!

4. Do you deliver?
Yes, we do deliver within the Brisbane area for an additional fee. Please contact us for more details. We can also arrange for you to pick up your cake from an inner city Brisbane area.

5. I don’t live in Brisbane but I love your figurines. Are you able to post them to me?
Yes, we are able to post figurines to anywhere in Australia or even internationally! Please bear in mind that postage will take some time, hence you will need to order the figurines in advance.

6. What is sugarpaste?
It’s basically a sweet sugar dough made mainly out of sugar and glucose mainly used to cover cakes. It is also known as fondant.

7. Are all your figurines handmade?
Yes, all our sugarpaste figurines and décor are handmade by us. So are all our cakes and other sweet treats!

8. How long can the figurines last for?
The sugarpaste figurines last indefinitely, as long as it is kept in a box/container with silica gel at room temperature, away from heat, light and moisture.

9. Sugarpaste covered cakes are a bit sweet for my tastebuds. Is there a way to make it less sweet?
In this case, we usually advise our clients with less of a sweet tooth to just peel off the layer of sugarpaste prior to eating. Our cakes are formulated to be not too sweet as we want the real flavours like the vanilla or chocolate to shine through.

10. Should I store my sugarpaste cake in the fridge?
Any cakes with a sugarpaste covering and figurines should not be refridgerated because the sugarpaste will turn soft and start ‘sweating’ once out of the fridge. It has to be kept in a cool room away from sunlight and moisture.

11. Do you cater for parties or corporate events?
Yes, we do cater sweet treats and cakes for every event. Please refer to our Small Bites page for more details. If the item you require is not listed, we will try our very best to accommodate your request.

12. I am after a cake for my wedding. Can you work within my budget?
We always try our best to work within our clients’ budgets. Please do bear in mind that the cake size, flavor, and design/details do play a part in the cost of the cake. The more detailed the cake, the more time is put into creating the cake, therefore, it will cost more.

13. I am gluten intolerant. Do you make gluten-free cakes?
We do try our best to cater to everyone’s tastes and needs. We can make gluten-free cakes and do take extra care when making them but please do bear in mind that we do work in an environment with nuts, dairy, gluten, egg, sesame, and soy. Please see our Terms & Conditions for our Allergy Disclaimer.
